A modern-day paranormal psychologist investigates a series of disturbing cases involving people hearing whispers, seeing distorted reflections, and feeling watched in their own homes. As the phenomenon spreads, she recruits a ghost hunter, a single father desperate to protect his child, and a psychologically fragile young adult who sees visions. Together, they trace the haunting to an ancient concept of “inner echoes”—shadows formed from unresolved guilt and shame. They think the entity feeding on these emotions was unleashed accidentally. But as the truth unravels, they discover a chilling reality: the horror never came from outside. They are not being hunted by a ghost—they are becoming the ghosts, consumed by their own fears and erased from existence, one memory at a time. The final twist reveals that their attempts to fight the haunting only accelerated their transformation. All along, they were the anomalies haunting the world, not the victims. The living have been terrified of them.
