Strategy that leads to No where
When strategy leads to no-where. Here a company spends so much resources and time to develop a strategy, just to have it on the document and in the office and nothing happens. The strategy exemplifies how strategy efforts are wasted without result. The reason for that failure are: 1. A wrong vision form the chief executive officer 2. A wrong environmental analysis by the organisation 3. Following the chief executive officer's pet project instead of what the organisation need. 4. Not considering the market to bring out the project. rather considering their desires. 5. When everybody wants to see himself in the project. Operational activities that should be looked at as operational are regarded as strategic 6. So much strategic objectives for one strategy 7. Too much Key Performance Indicators 8 . Non-alignment of Strategic Objectives with the Key performance indicators 9. Non-alignment of the Key Performance Indicators with the targets. 10. too much time taken to carry out organisational alignment (cascade) 11. inability to communicate the strategy across the organisartion 12. Unavailability of data to report on the organisational Performance. even when the data is available, the quality of the data is questionable 13. Lack of a proper strategy governance that reports on when the strategy session should be held and what should be in the report 14. Considering operational activities in the strategy session rather than only strategic matters. 15.
